Péter Kabdebó and his wife, Magdi after starting out in Baja, operate a kitchen studio not only next to the MS Bútorház on Tóth Kálmán Street in Baja, but also in Budapest. Péter Kabdebó is a descendant of the famous Dely family of Baja. The Delys, regarded as a respectable family in Baja, founded a sawmill already in 1848 on the bank of the Sugovica, the side branch of the Danube in Baja, to supply the developing economy of Bácska with excellent-quality sawn timber from logs floated down from the Highlands. To this day, locals still call the street “Deszkás Street” (Plank Street), because the industry of sawing the logs floated in by water began to flourish early on, and in fact the riverside of the street was occupied by sawmills. His father was a recognized expert and leader of the Baja furniture factory.
This family background also defined Péter Kabdebó’s professional career. He earned a degree in wood engineering at the University of Sopron, and at the Bácska Furniture Industry Company he became familiar with the areas of design, production, and sales. In 1980 he was appointed director of the company.

The founding
It offered Péter Kabdebó the opportunity for economic independence and the promise of awakening the family business from its Sleeping Beauty slumber. He left the plant developed by his father, in which his own work was also invested. He looked for new paths and new challenges.
In 1990 they established the Magdi Kitchen Studio, bearing his wife’s name, and encouraged by its success they could think about further developments as well, adhering to the principle of gradual progress and to the very important rule learned from grandpa: only develop if you have the financial backing for it, because you can fall hard at the end of an irresponsible flight.
In 1992 they opened the MS Bútorház, where, in addition to kitchen furniture, the full range of home furnishing can be found, and office furniture also appears. In this year, their own furniture workshop was established, where, beyond custom sizing, one-off manufacturing also began. The furniture store’s first stable partner became Tisza Furniture Industry Plc., and it is quite noteworthy that the first private kitchen-studio partner of the furniture industry company was the Kabdebó family.
Our story and our mission
In 1995, in Budapest the Magdi Kitchen Studio opened, already bearing the hallmarks of the complex service developed in Baja. In Baja, in 1997, another step of development was represented by a new furniture store created on Tóth Kálmán Street in the former family house of an old Baja bourgeois family, the Ertl family, which offers, on more than 1,000 square meters, not only the products of Hungarian furniture factories but also their own manufactured furniture. The strong upturn of in-house production is indicated by the fact that the larger share of kitchen furniture turnover is already made up of kitchen furniture designed and produced in-house.
The family background, the professional past, and gradual development resulted in reliable manufacturing.
The in-house manufactured kitchen furniture is made in three well-separated categories:
- kitchen furniture with solid-wood fronts (oak, beech, cherry, walnut),
- veneer-fronted kitchens (using veneers of the wood qualities above),
- vacuum-foil fronts (on an MDF base).
In the Baja and Budapest stores, the company works according to the same principles:
On the exhibition surfaces of the stores, typical combinations are presented on sample walls, but at the customer’s request, specialists help in creating ensembles that can also be put together completely freely. After assembling a composition that matches the customer’s taste, the kitchen studios also provide the opportunity to choose various kitchen appliances and accessories, since they offer a wide range of SIEMENS, BOSCH, as well as ZANUSSI, ELECTROLUX and AEG appliances. In the kitchen studios, the buyer can vary the full range of kitchen solutions based on the products presented, which means that from worktops, through cabinet doors, in color and surface quality, through fittings, all the way to taps and trays, the customer can freely create the solution that suits them best.
According to the company’s principles, it can therefore call itself a studio-type retailer, because its professional background and furniture workshop make it possible to best satisfy very diverse and varied needs. The customer can achieve the best and most complete fulfillment of their needs if they contact the studios already during the architectural design of the house or apartment and coordinate with the company’s specialists, because it makes a difference whether a concept must be forced into an already finished architectural space, or whether the space is shaped to comfort and to the ideas.
Based on the preliminary discussion, the company prepares a plan which, after coordination with the customer, at the end of the necessary production processes results in the kitchen according to the wishes. In the world of kitchens it is also very important that the building services work aligns with the realization of special ideas, i.e., the water, sewer, electrical, heating, and air-conditioning connections can be placed in the right location, since this can also prevent later problems.
In this process, the commissioning of kitchen appliances is carried out by a separate specialist company.
There is no problem even if the house is already at such a stage of readiness when it is very difficult or costly to adapt the utilities to the kitchen furniture, since the kitchen studios’ specialists have countless solutions with which critical problems can be resolved.
The kitchen studio network does not exclusively serve the world of kitchens, since the company’s capabilities also ensure that customers can obtain dining furniture and the procurement of other furnishings for the home through the MS Bútorház network. The Magdi Kitchen Studios and MS Bútorház stores are connected with almost every major manufacturer in the country, but in the case of individual needs, beyond ready-made furniture, the company’s furniture-manufacturing capacity and well-prepared specialists are also available to customers.
A milestone: the year 2015
Another milestone in the life of the business.
After the sudden, tragic death of Péter Kabdebó, his daughter and son take over the leadership of the company (Magdolna in Budapest and Péter in Baja), while Kabdebó Péterné – Magdi – continues to manage the Baja Magdi Kitchen Studio.
